Job Vacancies: Computer Programmer – Learn and Work Locally.

Looking for students who are finishing their VCE, with a strong passion for computer programming, and wishing to do a degree while working and have an affinity to staying in the district, I’d love to hear from you!!

I’m the development team leader (and owner) at Accrivia, the largest software development house in the Western District.

We develop accounting and business operations software, and while we are the leading supplier to two vertical markets in Australia (KFC Franchisee’s and Plasterboard Retailing), our extensive client list includes businesses in all states of Australia, with some representation in NZ and Fiji also.

At the start of this year (2014), I employed a person that had successfully completed his VCE, and accepted a position to obtain a degree in Computer Science by correspondence.

It’s worked out exceptionally well for both of us; he’s working full time (but takes any time necessary to complete assignments and exams as required), and is in an environment that sees him applying daily the very principles he’s learning, in developing software systems for organisations.

The purpose of this email is to inquire whether you may have any students, completing this year, that may be in a similar situation. A desire to stay in Warrnambool, have a passion for software development and already show signs of such passion through their “spare time hobbies”, and intend on obtaining a degree over the next X years by correspondence (we would encourage 3 years and not delay this process).

I would greatly appreciate you passing my details.

VCE prerequisite and course planner now available

Ideal tool to help you link your current VCE studies to possible Uni courses.

Please find below instructions for accessing the new VCE prerequisite and course planner tool. The tool is in the final stages of testing and is now available for use by careers practitioners and students, although not yet linked from the VTAC website. We welcome your feedback on the VCE prerequisite and course planner tool.

To access the tool, visit: http://delta.vtac.edu.au/CourseSearch/prerequisiteplanner.htm

Detailed instructions are available on that page, along with the tool’s limitations. In particular, please note that the tool does not indicate eligibility for receiving an ATAR or successful completion of the VCE – it is purely for prerequisite planning.

Please also note that the ATAR range search feature and the ability to search VICTER are not yet available. We have decided to release the tool for now without these features to avoid further development delays.

The main suggested use of the tool is for a student to enter a current or planned VCE Unit 3 & 4 program, and receive search results listing all courses they are eligible for: courses where they meet the perquisites and courses without prerequisites.

There are advanced filters available to refine the search options, including searching by keyword. The option to filter by level of qualification can be used to remove many courses without prerequisites from the search results.

Accessing Your VCE Results and ATAR

As we move closer in the year to the release of VCE results and the ATAR, Resources for the VCE Results and ATAR service for this year.

Logging in Students will use their VCE student number and Results Service PIN to access the results service (online or SMS). The VTAC ID and VTAC PIN cannot be used to access the results service.

As previously announced, the Results Service PIN can be changed from the link in the VTAC user account or the PIN management login page.

Detailed instructions are available on the VTAC website: http://www.vtac.edu.au/results-offers/y12-atar/change-pin.html

SMS registration Please note that registration for SMS results will open at 9am, Monday 9 November. Requests sent before this time will not be valid.
